Obituary

Mark A. Polaschek, 49, Davenport, died where he loved to be and doing what he loved to do, on March 25, 2013 in the Florida Keys. A Traditional Requiem Mass will be 9 AM Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport, Clerics are welcome to sit in choir. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 3-7 PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3PM. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to All Saint's Catholic School, Davenport, Alleman High School, Rock Island, the Woman's Choice Center, Bettendorf or Human Life International. Mark was born December 31, 1963 in Moline, the son of David and Barbara (VandeVoorde) Polaschek. Mark graduated from St. Ambrose College, Davenport. Mark was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He had been a financial adviser, and had a true entrepreneurial spirit. He had owned the former Hunter's Club in Rock Island. He married Karla Bladel on May 9, 2002. Mark held a fascination for the history of our country and his Church. He was a member of Short Hills Country Club, East Moline. Mark never met a stranger and always liked meeting new people. Mark loved being a father and cherished his son. Survivors include his wife Karla, their son Michael, sister, Mary (Voris) Davis, Birmingham, AL, brothers, Michael Polaschek, Rock Island and Joe (Betsy) Polaschek, Davenport, niece, Amy Davis nephews, Patrick Davis, Jack and David Polaschek, and Sam and Joe Bladel and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to thank the US Coast Guard for their assistance.
