Mark was born August 29, 1955 in Moline, to Sarfien and Irma VanWassenhove. Mark had worked locally as a welder and a machine operator. He had been married to Ann Freiberg and Tammy Becker. Survivors include his daughter Lisa Marie VanWassenhove, East Moline, and siblings, Phillip (Sandi) VanWassenhove, JoAnn (Don) Pankey, Moline and Kayla Bowman, Rapids City, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Diane VanZuiden and Yvonne Lack.
