Marlene J. Brown, 91, of East Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026, at her home in East Moline.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 17th, at Our Lady of Grace Parish at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Interment will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. A rosary will be recited 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 16th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with visitation following from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Grace Parish at St. Anne Catholic Church.
Marlene Jane Cooper was born May 12, 1934, in Moline, Illinois, to Joel, Sr. and Evelyn (Miller) Cooper. She married Ralph Lee Brown on May 16, 1953, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. He preceded her in death on July 28, 2012.
She will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mom, grandma and great grandma. Her favorite times were those spent with family and friends making memories. She will be greatly missed by all.
Marlene was a faithful member of Our Lady of Grace Parish at St. Anne Catholic Church, where she had been active in Wings of St. Anne’s. She was a member of TOPS, a life-long Girl Scout, and enjoyed many crafts.
Survivors include her children, Jody Brown, East Moline, Dennis Brown (Stephanie Adams), Venice, FL, Gary (Kerry) Brown, Davenport, and Dee (Reggie) White, East Moline; grandchildren, Tiffany Brown, Jessica Bush (Brian Elsey), Amy (Jordan) Thompson, Ashley (Chad) Reinart, Missi (Michael) Manternach, Andrew (Caitlin) Bush, Joshua White and Nicholas White; great grandchildren, Xavyer Boone, Jacob Brown, Evalynn Thompson, Miles Bush, Mack Manternach, Ethan Reinart and Felicity Reinart; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.
Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents, Joel Sr. and Evelyn; brothers, Joel Cooper, Jr. and Charles Cooper; and sisters, Mary Josephine “Mary Jo” Anderson, Susan MacDonald and Nancy Jacobson.
