Funeral services for Marlene M. Carlson, 69, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Friday at Faith Lutheran Church, Moline, IL. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, Ltd., East Moline. Mrs. Carlson died Monday, March 17, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church. Marlene Johnson was born May 11, 1938 in Galva, IL, the daughter of Harold and Edna (Gustafson) Johnson. She married James O. Carlson, March 12, 1960 in Kewanee, IL. He died March 31, 2002. She had worked as a registered nurse for Trinity Health Care, retiring in 1995, after nearly 40 years of service. She had been a member and an active volunteer of both Faith Lutheran Church and Mended Hearts Support Organization. She was a wonderful cook and loved to do ceramics. She loved to serve the Lord. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and William Beals of Hampton, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Gerald M. and Kathy Carlson of Cheyenne, WY; grandchildren, Mark and Nicole Beals; sister, Mary Edmondson of Barney, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Nancy Johnson of Kewanee, Roger and Gail Johnson of Darien, IL; several nieces and nephews.
