Funeral services for Mary A. Smith, 88, East Moline, are 11 AM Saturday, January 28, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-8 PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to her church. Mrs. Smith died Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. Mary Giovenazzo was born September 23, 1917 in Rock Island, the daughter of Giacinto and Concetta (Pollicino) Giovenazzo. She married Robert N. Smith, October 10, 1936 in Rock Island. He died December 12, 1983. Mary had worked at the former Palmer Florist and Hott Brothers Florist in East Moline. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Silvis, a member of the USS Arizona Reunion Association and a member of the Italian/American Society. Survivors include children and spouses Jack T and Patricia Smith, Moline, IL William C and Ilona (Lee) Smith, Cornville, AZ and Lisa M and Robert Jones, Bettendorf, IA, grandchildren; Diana Gaertner, Philip Jones, Brian Smith and Erin Smith, 2 great grandchildren, step grandchildren; Rhona Pinkney, Kim Sampson, and Becky Moreland, 9 step great grandchildren, and 3 step great-great grandchildren, sisters Angela Schold, East Moline, IL Jeanette Kelley, Kewanee, IL, and Dorothy Mann, Silvis, IL and a brother Samuel Giovenazzo, Moline. Her husband, sisters Teresa Ickes, Rose Orendorff, Catherina Giovenazzo, and Annie Giovenazzo and brothers Joseph Givens, Michael Giovenazzo and James Giovenazzo preceded her in death.
