Mary Ann Radovich was born December 4, 1926, the daughter of Michael and Katherine Radovich. She married Stanley R. “Stash” Krol on August 9, 1947 in St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. He passed away January 15, 2012.
Mary Ann lived her entire life in East Moline where she and Stash raised their 4 children. She graduated from East Moline High School in 1944 (she was the last living member of her graduating class). She attended Western Illinois State Teachers College now known as Western Illinois University. Mary Ann was a pioneer in the field of Special Education, retiring in 1984 after working 16 years, finishing her tenure at Black Hawk Area Education Center. Mary Ann was a strong supporter of her husband, Stash, in establishing and the prospering of Stashu & Sons Sausage Shoppe since 1970.
Our mom was our memory and historical information center. She could recall the names of all the people in her life, including: all extended family, friends, neighbors, both past and present, our children’s friends and even servers at her favorite restaurants. Pick nearly any building in the Quad City area and she could tell you all the businesses that had ever occupied it.
Survivors include her children, James David (Laurel) Krol, Moline, Barbara Ann (Deno) Minas, Coal Valley, Kenneth Alan “Sarge” (Dora) Krol, East Moline, daughter-in-law, Victoria Krol, Moline; grandchildren, Nicholas (Jacqueline) Minas, Jenet (Charles) Wenderoth, Allison (Ian) Everhard, Kile (Aubree) Krol, Micaela Krol, Jordan (Jessica) Krol, and Nadia (Jimmy) Kongkousonh; great-grandchildren, Caiden and Eliah Minas, Tristan and Christopher Wenderoth, Avin, Maeli and Fiona Everhard, Helen and Konnor Krol, Callie, Brooklyn and Cooper Krol, Mynka and Marek Kongkousonh; sister-in-law, Lois Radovich; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Thomas; grandson, Francis; brothers, Mirko and Steven Radovich, and step-father, James McKay.
Although Mary Ann’s mind never failed, her body finally had had enough. So, she left us to be with her one & only Valentine at 2:14 PM. Rest in Peace, Mom, with Our Lord Jesus Christ. We know that you are safe and with all your loved ones who were waiting for you.
Memorials may be made to the ARC of the Quad Cities Area, the UTHS Boosters Club or the Moline Boosters Club.
