Obituary

Mary Lou Dickinson, 81, of Rockford, Il, died March 29, 2019 in Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center, Rockford, where she lived for the past 3 years. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM Friday at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline, with a visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 4-7 PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home in East Moline, Illinois. Burial will take place in Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center.

She was born on July 7, 1937, in Wonewoc, WI, the daughter of Donald and Florence (Olson) Koch. Mary Lou Koch graduated from Muscatine High School. She worked as a telephone operator for a few years before marrying Larry Means Dickinson on March 31, 1958. She spent most of her life living in East Moline, and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She retired from Aramark Industries. Mary Lou was happiest when spending time with her family and friends.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Cathy (Richard) Frint of Belvidere, IL and Brenda Ryan Of Machesney Park, IL; son, Mike (Teresa) Dickinson of Waseca, MN; grandsons, Justin Dickerson, Ryan (Nichole) Dickerson and Michael Ryan of Rockford, Harry and Jonathan Ryan of Machesney Park, Geoffrey (Lynn) Dickinson of Waseca, Christian and Joshua Dickinson of Mankato, IL, Austin Trommels of Roscoe, IL; granddaughter, Christi Trommels of Lombard, IL; great-grandchildren, Allison and Elliot Dickerson of Rockford; step-grandaughters, Tracey (Charlie) Lane and Heather Wellwood, Rockford; several step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Robert Koch of Muscatine, Iowa, Nancy (William) Phillips of Atalissa, IA, John (Ethel) Koch of Muscatine, IA, and Diane (Craig) Fitchner of New Boston, IL; sisters-in-law, Verlee Koch of Muscatine, and Sharon (Ron) VanDaele of Moline; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Dickinson; daughter, Cindy Trommels; grandson, Eric Dickerson; step-granddaughter, Elizabeth Peppers; sisters, Helen and Debra Koch (in infancy); brother, Leonard Koch; brother and sister-in-law, LeRoy and Sandra Koch; and sisters-in-law, Darlene Maness, Carol Stevens and Donna Cunningham.

Her family thanks the staff of Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center and Northern Illinois Hospice for the loving care Mary Lou received.
