Obituary

Mary L. Graves, 86, East Moline went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 27, 2007 after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10 AM Thursday at First Baptist Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Rapids City Cemetery. Visitation is 3-6 PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, and 1 hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, where she was a life member. Mary was born of January 10, 1921 in Winfield, MO, the daughter of Eli and Kate Wheeler. She married Jessie C Graves on November 29, 1947 in Winfield. He died December 23, 1998. She had been formerly employed at John Deere Harvester as a canvas maker during WWII. She later worked at Fresh Pak Candy in Moline and FW Means in East Moline. Mary enjoyed crafts and sewing, especially cross-stitch, working in the garden and Coconut Cream Pie. Survivors include her son Gary A Graves, Rapids City, daughter and son-in-law Janis and Steve Thomas, Coal Valley, 3 step grandchildren and a step great grandson. She is preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter Deidre, two sisters and 3 brothers. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
