Funeral services for Mary J. Heene, 81, formerly of Silvis, are 10 AM Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 4-7PM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4PM. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mrs. Heene died Friday, November 30, 2007 at Sunrise Assisted Living Center, Carlsbad, CA. Mary Krack was born September 5, 1926 in Moline, IL, the daughter of William and Mary (Hermsen) Krack. Mary attended Moline schools and graduated class of 1944 from Moline High School. She married Arthur Heene on November 29, 1947 in Moline. Art died February 21, 2005. She had worked at the former Bank of Silvis, Silvis Cashway, Tri-City, International Harvester, American Machine and Metal and finally as the secretary and bookkeeper of the superintendent of George O. Barr School in Silvis, retiring in July of 1991. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Illini Hospital Auxiliary and a life member of Golf Mohr and Hawthorn Ridge Golf courses and the Golf Mohr Ladies Club. She enjoyed golf, fishing, traveling, shopping and her grandchildren. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Mark and Lynn Heene, Austin, TX and Kevin and Patricia Heene, Carlsbad, CA, grandchildren, Ryne, Nicholas and Jacob and a sister Carol Gould, Bonne Parte, IA., and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Richard.
