Funeral services for Mary Heine, 96, formerly of East Moline, are 10 AM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 3-5 PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 5 PM. Memorials may be made to a scholarship in Mary's Name. Mary died Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Mary Goethals was born April 19, 1909 in Ruiselede West Flanders, Belgium, the daughter of Cyrille and Euphasia (Lambrecht) Goethals. She married Walter C. Heine, October 3, 1936 at St. Anne's, East Moline. He died December 6, 1960. Mary graduated from Browns Business College and worked in sales at Schwenker-Mougin Shoes Inc., Moline for 60 years. She belonged to several groups within her church. Survivors include sister; Madeline Goethals, East Moline, a brother-in-law Herb Wood, Port Byron and nieces (spouse) Melanie Wood, Olathe, CO, MaryBeth (John) Rylander, Port Byron, and Gretchen (Louis) Petersen Bessiere, a nephew (spouse) John and (Nancy) Wood, Larkspur, CO, five great nieces and 2 great-great nieces. In addition to her husband, Mary is preceded in death by sisters Rose Goethals Wood and Gretchen Goethals Petersen and a brother George Goethals.
