Funeral services for Mary E. Helenthal, 95, of East Moline, IL, will be 11:00AM Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00-10:30AM Thursday, prior to services at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mrs. Helenthal died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at her daughter's home. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church. Mary Krogmeier was born May 1, 1918, in Fort Madison, IA, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Whlenhake Krogmeier. She married William H. Helenthal July 28, 1945 at Sacred Heart Church, Fort Madison. He died March 5, 2002. Mary was a homemaker, actively involved in the Girl Scouts of America, Genesis Medical Center, Silvis Auxiliary, and secretary/treasurer for Western Illinois American Ex-Prisoners of War. Mary truly enjoyed card games, especially bridge. Survivors include her daughters, Sister Paula Helenthal, OSB of Rock Island, IL, Cathleen McMahon and Joan Cunningham of East Moline, IL; grandchildren, Brian Cunningham, Marc (Jessica) Cunningham, and Julie (Brian) Noel; great grandchildren, Conner and Lillyana Cunningham, Sebastian and Leyna Noel; and a special puppy, Ivy.
