Obituary

Funeral services for Mary D. Hoppock 87, of Silvis, IL, will be 1:00 PM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hoppock died Friday, December 7, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association. Mary Doornbosch was born November 2, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Frank and Mary (Schofield) Doornbosch. She married Donald S. Hoppock June 14, 1941 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death in 2004. While living in Chicago she was a lifetime member of the Delta Tau's of the St. Paul Congregational Church. When she later moved to Bloomington, IL, she was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church and she gave 10,000 hours as a member of the St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary. She was a loving wife and mother. She had worked for many years in retail sales. She enjoyed sewing, baking and for years sang in the church choir. She wrote poetry and in later years spent many hours corresponding with family and friends. She had been a summer visitor to Door County since 1972, where she will be laid to rest at a later date. She had also lived in East Moline and Roscoe, IL. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Ted Amlong, Hampton, IL, Linda and Bob Merline, Fish Creek, WI; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister and brother-in law, Elvie and Richard Zimmermann, Lafayette LA; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, 2 brothers and 2 sisters-in-law. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
