Funeral services for Mary L. Neels Keener, 92, East Moline, are 1PM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 1-4PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a family rosary will be recited at 12:30PM. Mrs. Keener died Friday, December 26, 2008 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Church. Mary Neels was born April 23, 1916 in Perryville, Missouri, the daughter of John and Clara (Schrenk) Neels. Mary graduated from St. Mary's School, East Moline in June of 1930. She married Howard "Jake" Keener on September 21, 1957 at St. Anne Church. She retired in 1972 as a clerk for John Deere Foundry. Mrs. Keener was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed quilting and gardening, but especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law Rosemary and Jon Humphrey of Galva, IL and Ruthann and Dave Sheley of Moline, grandchildren; Tara Goldsby, Jacy (Kallie) Goldsby, Aaron (Anna) Goldsby, Jesse Humphrey, Jonelle Humphrey, Jacob Sheley and Jared Sheley, and a sister Alma Lesthaeghe of Lynn Center, IL. She is preceded in death by her husband and brothers; Fred, Robert, Adolph, Rudolph, and Homer.
