Funeral services for Mary Jane Kindred, 91, formerly of Davenport, IA, will be 11:00AM Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Rapids City, IL. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport, IA. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. Mrs Kindred died Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Amber Ridge, Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice. Mary Jane Richman was born August 8, 1922 in Brooklyn, IA, the daughter of Earl O. and Mary C. Swartz Richman. She married James Richard Kindred, October 12, 1940 in Davenport, IA. He died August 14, 1980. She later married Paul Mellen October 7, 1991, in Garden City, SC. She had worked for Equitable Life Insurance as a personal secretary. She had been a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Rapids City. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, sewing, and making teddy bears. Survivors include her husband, Paul Mellen, Moline; daughter, Mary Kay Kindred, Dowling, MI; sons, Tom Kindred, East Moline, and Jim Kindred, Liberty, MO; 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; stepdaughter, Becky Dunkle; stepsons, Tim Mellen and Steve (Elaine) Mellen; sister, Helen Richman, Muscatine, IA; brother, Larry Richman, Walcott, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ruth Carter; brothers, Pete Richman, Bob Richman, Willis Richman, and infant brother, Dean Richman.
