Visitation is 4-7:30 PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a liturgy service will be at 6PM. Mary Lou passed away Friday, May 21, 2010 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or to St. Patrick's Church. Mary Lou was born August 13, 1928 in Moline, the daughter of Gerard and Julia (DeSmet) Pynckel. She married John "Walt" Mathes on March 30, 1946 in Davenport, IA. She and her husband wintered in Arizona for 24 years, and the two of them enjoyed camping and traveling. She was a member of the Moline Family Camper's Club and the Family Campers and RVers. Ballroom dancing and square dancing were a common past-time but her main purpose in her life was her family and her home. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, John "Walt", daughter and son-in-lawChristine and Steve Van Lancker, Moline and a brother Robert Pynckel, Morocco, IN. She is preceded in death by a brother; Frank Pynckel and a sister Ann Murphy.
