Funeral services for Mary E. Meier, 80, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM. Mrs. Meier died Sunday, January 1, 2006, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline, Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy, East Moline, or the American Cancer Society. Mary Termont was born May 9, 1925, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Casimier and Madeline (Poelvoorde) Termont. She married Clyde Meier, on January 24, 1948, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Both were 1943 graduates of United Township High School, East Moline. In her earlier years, she had worked as a legal secretary for Sherwood Costigan in East Moline; later she worked at the former Community Savings & Loan, East Moline, retiring in 1986. Mary was a member of the Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs for 49 years. She served as the Vice President of the Central Region and also in many other elected offices at the local, district, and state levels. Her local club memberships included the Woman's Club of East Moline and Twentieth Century Woman's Club of Moline. She had also been an officer or a board member of the East Moline PTAs at all levels, the East Moline Beautification Committee, Opportunity Center in Moline, Illini Hospital Auxiliary, Namequa Lodge (now home of the Rock Island County Council on Alcoholism), and member of the Junior Service League of Moline, IL. Mary was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. In addition to her love for her family, she enjoyed traveling (Arizona and abroad), interior decorating, and arranging flowers. Survivors include: her husband of 57 years, Clyde Meier of East Moline, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Linda Meier of East Moline, IL, David and Sally Meier of Moline, IL, Alan and Mary Meier of Bloomington, IL; grandchildren (spouse), Meghan (Anthony) Ross, Alison (Joel Gentes) Meier, Erin, Leah, Curtis, Brendan and Travis Meier.
