Mary H. (Walz) O'Neill, a native of Minnesota whose warmth
and bright spirit made her memorable to all who met her, died peacefully with family by her side Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Genesis East, Davenport.
Funeral Services will be 1pm Friday, at the Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, IL, with Father Donald Levitt officiating. Graveside services will be immediately following the funeral Mass, at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Visitation will be 11-12:30 pm Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline.
Mary was born September 9, 1926, on the family farm in Hollandale, MN the daughter
of Albert and Martha (Gappa) Walz. She was the sixth of nine children.
Mary worked many years as a professional dental assistant. She also worked at the Rock Island Arsenal as Precision Grinder. She supported the war effort, making gun sights on several large artillery weapons, and finish grinding the barrels of the 50 caliber Machine Guns. She held numerous other jobs and retired in 2008.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother & great grandmother. She was a fantastic seamstress and was known for her candy making, most famously her world-class turtles! Above all, Mary loved and lived for her family.
Mary was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Davenport and her faith was an incredibly important part of her life.
Survivors include her son James A. O'Neill and his wife, Terrie, of Bettendorf, IA , two
grandchildren, Kelly of Davenport, IA, & Tim (Buffy) of Davenport, IA and 4 great grandchildren, Payton, Ella, Keaton, & Avery, brother, Albert ( Yvonne) Walz, Rochester, MN; Dolores Overby Austin, MN and sister-in-law Vicki Walz, Silvis.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; siblings, Leo, John and Jerome Walz, Kathryn Halferty, Lillian Sainer, and Rozella Hansen.
