Funeral services for Mary Jo Polaschek, 86, of East Moline, IL, will be 11:30 am Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:00 pm. Mrs. Polaschek died Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. Mary Jo Van Hoe was born August 7, 1931, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Albert and Nellie Keene Van Hoe. She was a graduate of United Township High School Class of 1949. She married Vincent Polaschek October 11, 1952, in St. Anne Catholic Church. She worked for Desaulniers and retired from Midland Press. She was a member of the "49'ers" Club, Catholic Order of Foresters and the former St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed knitting, doing word circles, playing games on the computer, and keeping up with family and old friends on Facebook. Mary Jo was the "eternal optimist" being a Chicago Cub fan since she was a young girl. Survivors include her husband, Vince Polaschek, East Moline; children, Linda (Bob) Black, Hillsdale, IL, Tom (Chris) Polaschek, Garland, TX, and Jane Fleming, East Moline; grandchildren, Matt (Sarah) Wessels, Mike (Marty) Wessels, Stacy (Josh) Neyland, Amy (Jeff) Wong, Quincy (Suzi) Hughes, Brent Polaschek, and Lacey Polaschek; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Eileen (Richard) Whitney, East Moline; brother, John (Carole) Van Hoe, East Moline; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Dr. Reginald Pugh. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church.
