Mary Jo Ryan July 16, 1945 – August 12, 2025
Mary Jo Ryan, 80, of Silvis, Illinois, passed away on August 12, 2025, at MercyOne Hospital.
Born on July 16, 1945, in Moline, Illinois, Mary Jo was the beloved daughter of Earl and Margurite Baele Wissbaum. She married the love of her life, Michael L. Ryan, on October 23, 1965, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and together they built a home filled with a lot of love and laughter.
Mary Jo is survived by her daughter, Wendy (Andrew) Rogers; her grandson, Brady Rogers; her brother, Ronald Wissbaum; and her sister, Linda True (Ray Sierra). She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Michael, and her sister-in-law Sharon Wissbaum.
Full of life and love, Mary Jo had a heart for animals – often finding homes for strays and caring for the neighborhood pets. She delighted in collecting trinkets, especially those that sparkled, and cherished time spent with her family. Fiercely protective of her younger sister Linda and a master at the art of playfully annoying her older brother Ronald, she was a true middle sister through and through. Her laughter could light up a room, and she never met a stranger she couldn't strike up a conversation with.
A visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, with the rosary recited at 12:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Divine Mercy Parish at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, followed by burial at Rock Island National Cemetery.
Mary Jo's love, kindness, and laughter will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
