Mary "Lou" Sheppard, 80, East Moline, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Hope Creek, East Moline. Visitation is 2-5 PM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd,. East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Lou Wilcoxen was born on February 11, 1936 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of James P. and Evelyn (Hunt) Wilcoxen. She married James Sheppard Sr. and together they had 2 children. Lou worked for the City of East Moline, starting as a meter maid and retired as a police dispatcher. She enjoyed the relationship she built during her time with the city, and would meet up with her co-workers regularly. Lou was known for always smiling. Survivors include her children, Sue (Thomas) Shipman, Port Byron, and James Sheppard, Carbon Cliff, seven grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Don and Jack.
