IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Lou
Stubbart
January 26, 1932 – April 19, 2019
Mary Lou Neels Stubbart, 87, of Silvis, IL, passed away on Good Friday, April 19, 2019. Visitation will be 11am-noon on Friday, April 26 at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. A 1 pm graveside service will be conducted immediately following in Coal Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Shelter, Milan, to honor Mary's love for her pets.
Mary Lou was born on January 26, 1932, in Moline, IL, to Clarence and Olive Stirk Ryker. She completed her education in the East Moline Schools and was a member of the First Baptist Church, East Moline. Mary Lou married Henry Neels on June 18, 1949 in East Moline. Hank Jr., Greg, and Sandra were born to this union. On July 28, 1973, she married Donald Stubbart, in Geneseo, IL. Two children, Christopher and Pam, were added to the family with this marriage. Mary maintained a busy life cooking, camping, wintering in Florida and Texas, attending auctions, having yard sales, and spending time with her family. She enjoyed watching her beloved Cubs (2016 World Champions!) and western movies.
Mary is a descendant of strong American patriots and pioneers including the original Riker of Riker's Island, NYC. She enjoyed discussing and learning about her family history during the last five years.
Mary Lou was deeply protective of her family. If you asked, she gave, If you didn't ask, she still gave. She doted on her loved ones. Once you walked through her door, you were family. The table would be immediately covered with whatever was in the fridge, and you'd better eat. And, if discipline was in order, that happened, too. She shared what she had, no matter how little that may have been at times. Need to chat? Sit at the table, and visit as long as you want. Want to learn about canning? She was glad to teach. Holidays? Bring elastic waist band pants.
She is lovingly missed by her children Henry (Vicki) Neels, Jr., East Moline; Greg (Nancy) Neels, Cape Fair, MO; Sandra (Rob) Connors, Port Orange, FL; and Pam Guldenzopf, Rock Island; 13 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren, siblings Betty Smith, Ringgold, GA; Verna Resetich, East Moline; Jacqueline (Kermit) Pfaff, Geneseo; and Clarence Ryker, Jr., East Moline; brother-in-law, Kenneth, and sister-in-law, Carol. Her husband, Don, son, Christopher, son-in-law David Guldenzopf, grandson, Jeremy Raymond, and her parents preceded her in death.
