Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mary Ellen Sullivan, 83, of East Moline, IL are 10:00 AM Saturday, October, 8, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, IL. Burial will be at 12:00 Noon, Monday, October 10, 2016 in St. Mary's Ridge Cemetery, Cashton WI. Visitation is 4:00-7:00PM Friday, October 7, 2016 at Van Hoe Funeral Home, LTD, East Moline, IL with a rosary recited at 3:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Hope Creek Activity Fund. Mary Ellen died October 2, 2016 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, with her family by her side. She was born October 17, 1932, in Sparta, WI, the daughter of James and Irene Meseberg Sullivan. She retired as a Nutritional Services Supervisor from the former Moline Public Hospital in 1988 after 35 years. Mary Ellen enjoyed attending July 4th celebrations in Ontario, WI with her family and special friends, Earl and Paulette Ferries of Ontario. She looked forward to going out to dinner on Wednesday evenings with cousins, Patty, Gary, Donna, and Tom. Mary also loved attending holiday gatherings with family. Mary Ellen was a devoted member and volunteered at St. Mary's Church East Moline for over 20 years. She was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, a member of the Parish's traditional and funeral choirs, and an active member of the area's Cursillo Community. She received the Diocese of Peoria's 2006 Pere Marquette Award for outstanding service to her parish.
