Funeral services for Mary I Terronez, 74, East Moline, are 10 AM Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 3-7PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at the conclusion of visitation. Memorials may be made to an education fund for her great-grandchildren. Mary died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Mary Pompa was born January 18, 1934 in Silvis, the daughter of Celso and Frances (Guerrero) Casando. She married Manuel I Terronez on December 19, 1953 in Silvis. He died December 17, 2004. Mary had worked various jobs including work at several area nursing homes, working in the cafeteria for the East Moline School District, making pies for Whitey's Ice Cream and as an assembler at International Harvester, East Moline. Being a homemaker and taking care of the family was her greatest priority. She enjoyed gardening and was a magnificent cook. Survivors include: her children and spouses; Christina and John Burns, Matthews, NC, Ramona and Dwayne Dennis, East Moline, and Frances and Jaime Cantu, East Moline and Manuel and Sandy Terronez, Evans, GA; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; a sister; Sr. Marcelina Casando, Springfield, IL, brother; Henry Pompa, Moline, and a niece Vicky Gonzalez. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant children, Romona and Joey, and a grandson, Joshua Matthew Terronez. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
