Mathys "Mike" Huyten, 87, East Moline, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Funeral services are 9 AM Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. Memorials may be made to The Alzheimer's Association or Christ the King, where he was a member. Mike was born on November 11, 1927 in Heerlen, Holland, the son of William and Mary (Eichelmann) Huyten. He married Emma Arts on June 18, 1949 at St. Martinus Catholic Church in Welten, Holland. She died June 19, 2012. He worked at Wilson's DX in East Moline, and later was a member of the UAW local 1304 working as a machine operator at Case IH, East Moline, retiring in 1989. He served in the Dutch Marines, and was a member of the Dutch Immigrant Society. Mike was an avid sports fan and loved his family. Survivors include his children, William (Nancy) Huyten, Ft. Worth, TX, John (Teresa) Huyten, Moline, and Martin (Beth) Huyten, East Moline, twelve grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and brothers, Frank Huyten, Coal Valley, IL, John Huyten, Holland and Nick (Toni) Huyten, Moline.
