Commander Maurice Henri Desseyn "Des", 78, died peacefully at 11:30 am, August 16, 2007 in Charlotte Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C. after a year long struggle with Myelofibrosis. Interment will be at the Arlington National Cemetery on November 14, 2007.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: USNA Foundation, 291 Wood Road, Beach Hall, Annapolis, MD 21402. He was born in East Moline, Illinois to Remi and Irma (DeFauw) Desseyn, both from Tielt, Belgium. He was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy Class of 1954. After graduation he went aboard the USS Wisconsin, USS Krause, and the USS Ranger. He married Dolores Elaine Tellas in Yuma, Arizona October 12, 1957. He had been a pilot during his 20-year career with the US Navy. Near the end of his career, he was assigned to the Pentagon, where he retired in 1971. Des is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Dolores (Dodie) and their five children; Larry (Renie) of Phoebus, Va, Donald (Marcia) of York, Pa, Dave (Karen) of Lexington, SC, Paul (Angie) of Charlotte, NC, and Lizette (Ed) Russell of Northern VA, and 13 grandchildren; his brother, Larry of Ellisville, Mo., and his sister, Lizette L.
