Funeral services for Maurice (Morrey) Verscheure, 89, of East Moline, IL, formerly of Cambridge, IL, will be 1:30 PM Tuesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be from Noon until 1:00 PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Mr. Verscheure died Saturday, November 19, 2005 at home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Monsignor William J. Cleary Endowment Fund or to the family. Maurice was born June 30, 1916 in Capac, MI, the son of Alphonse and Leona (DeSmet) Verscheure. He married Vivian Vyncke, July 4, 1966 in Peace Catholic Church, Orion, IL. He had served in the US Army during WWII. Morrey was self employed and started Morrey's Garage in Cambridge in 1955. He later sold the business to his son Marvin. He enjoyed auto racing and animals of all kinds. During the late 1950's and early 1960's he had his own "little zoo". Survivors include his wife: Vivian Verscheure of East Moline, IL; daughters and son-in-law, Helen Burleson of Moline, IL, Shirley and Bob Ruhl of Cambridge, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Mary Verscheure of Cambridge, IL, Jerry and Janet Verscheure of Geneseo, IL; step-daughter, Judy Zvonik of Moline, IL; 17 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother, Albert Verscheure of Yale, MI. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dianne; sons, Bobby, Johnny and Charles "Bud"; grandson, Darren Walters; 2 sisters; 5 brothers; son-in-law, Albert "Mack" Burleson.
