Maurice Versluis, 79, Silvis, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Funeral services are 1:30 PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 2-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Moline Activity Center. Maurice was born July 29, 1938 in Moline, the son of Maurice and Maxine (Bundy) Versluis. He married Carolyn Betcher on March 27, 1958 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. She died February 14, 2009. Maurice retired as a supervisor from the East Moline Post Office in 1992. He was a member of the East End Club Moline and enjoyed playing cards at the Moline Activity Center. He was a gardener, baker and had won the 1949 Marble Championship in Moline. After the loss of his wife Carolyn, he and his sister, Mary traveled extensively. Survivors include his children, Kevin (Kathleen) Versluis, Geneseo, Ken (Cindy) Versluis, Silvis, Karen (Rev. Gary) Wright, East Moline and Korey Versluis, Silvis, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and his sister, Mary Rogers, East Moline.
