Maurine M. Beresford, 96, Moline, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Amber Ridge Memory Care, Moline. Funeral services are 11 AM Wednesday at Elim Covenant Church, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is from 10 AM until service time at the church. Memorials may be made to Elim Covenant Church or to Freedom Ministries. Maurine was born November 18, 1920 in Moline, the daughter of James and Bertha (Youngquist) Hambleton. She graduated from Moline High School, class of 1938. Maurine worked at Strombeck and Becker before her marriage to Lyle Beresford on April 11, 1944. She was an excellent seamstress, who loved making dresses for her girls. She was a charter member of Elim Covenant Church, serving in many capacities, including teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and duets with her husband, Ladies Aid and a youth leader. She and her friend Margaret Hasty held the Good News Club for neighborhood children. Maurine was an exceptional hostess and loved to entertain. She loved her family above all. Survivors include her husband Lyle, daughters, Carol (Duane) Jacks, Moline, Danielle (Jim) Ogden, East Moline and Jeanine (Wayne) Allen, Moline, grandchildren, Brad (Delia) Jacks, Hannah (Raul) Solis, and Sarah (James) Ballard, seven great-grandchildren, a great-great grandson and her sister Nancy Schroeder, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Christy Jacks, sister Jean Winter and brother Thomas Hambleton. Maurine's favorite Bible verse was Psalm 68:6... "The Lord sets the solitary in families." The family would like to thank Amber Ridge Memory Care and Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Maurine.
