Funeral services for Maximino E. "Max" Casillas, 94, of Rock Island, formerly of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 3:00-7:00PM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30PM. Mr. Casillas died Tuesday April 6, 2010 surrounded by his family at Friendship Manor, Rock Island. Max was born June 8, 1915 in San Pedro, Mexico, the son of Ygnacio and Lenora Martinez Casillas. He married Gracia "Grace" Ysais November 10, 1940 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona, IL. She died February 17, 2008. He served in the US Army during WWII. He had worked for John Deere Harvester, East Moline, for 44 years, retiring January 1, 1976. He had been a member of the East Moline VFW Post 8890 and the Moline American Legion Post 246. Max was very proud of being a John Deere Retiree. He was a "champion golfer", golfing until age 90, still beating opponents half his age. He was an Avid Chicago Cubs Fan. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Sandi and David Julius of Racine, WI, Julie Moore of East Moline; sons and daughters-in-law, Serjio and Elizabeth Casillas of Davenport, IA, Robert and Fay Casillas of Glendale, AZ; grandchildren, Robin Casillas, Sergio Casillas, Michael Casillas, Christine Crisp, Lisa Smalls, Kelli VerBeke, Matt Casillas, Andrew Casillas, and Sarah Julius; great grandchildren, Max and Noah Crisp, Rachael, Bryan, Kimberly, and Alyssa Casillas, Casey Bickes, Maya and Leila Smalls, Maxim and Bo Casillas, Bear and Noni Casillas, and Grace Isabella who is due to be born July 4, 2010; great great granddaughter, Krista Nicole Casillas; sisters, Frances DeKock of East Moline, Agnes Oostendorp of East Moline,Christina Medina of Galesburg, IL; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Mary Ellen Casillas of Moline; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, granddaughter, Kristen Elizabeth Julius, sisters, Ramona, Connie, Rose, brothers, Jesse and Elias.
