Melanie Wood , a dedicated educator whose life's work was devoted to children's learning, has passed away. Her commitment to education touched countless young lives throughout her distinguished career. A graduate of the University of Denver, Melanie earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education. Her passion for teaching was matched only by her love for animals, particularly horses, which brought her joy throughout her life. Melanie was preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Herb Wood. She leaves behind a loving family including her sister, Marybeth Wood; her niece Jessica Hughes and husband Kenny, along with their children Elizabeth and Kenny Hughes; her niece Kathryn Hoskins-Wood; and her brother John, whose daughters Beth and Beckie and their children Olivia, Aubrey, Chase, and Carson will miss her dearly. She also leaves behind cherished lifelong friends Debbie, Sally, Mary, and Lynn, who shared in her adventures and supported her throughout her journey. Melanie's legacy lives on through the countless students whose lives she enriched and the family members who will forever cherish her memory. Her dedication to education and her warm spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.

A memorial service in her honor will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 27th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Memorials may be made to King's Harvest Pet Rescue, Davenport, IA
