Melvyn J. "Buff" VanRycke, 78, Colona, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at his home. Visitation is 2-4PM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. A gathering at his favorite fishing hole will be later this summer. Buff was born December 3, 1938 in Hooppole, IL, the son of Lawrence and Jane VanRycke. He retired from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline and then went to cleaning the Ag Center. He enjoyed fishing, camping, horseshoes and anything out doors. He loved being with family and friends. Survivors include his children, Christine (Terry) Waldron, Silvis, Sandra VanRycke, East Moline and Cliff (Annette) VanRycke, Silvis, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a brother, Daryl VanRycke, Burlington, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Gaylene and brother, Gilbert.
