Funeral services for Michael J. Campagna, 87, formerly of East Moline, are 10 AM Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 4-7PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Mike died Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. He was born January 3, 1923 in East Moline, the son of Joseph and Maria Sparcio Campagna. He served in the US Army during WWII. He married Melba Hawkins on June 29, 1969, in East Moline. She died December 14, 1998. He had worked for 28 years as an engineer for the former Rock Island Lines. Mike enjoyed playing golf, gardening and had many fond memories from when he ran Mike's Ice Cream Parlor in East Moline. Survivors include his children and spouses Rose and David Durham of Rock Island, Harold and Lottie Scott, Waldron, Ark., and Bernie Schrieber Muskegon, Michigan, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, brothers; Joseph Campagna, Silvis, Tony Campagna, Silvis, Frank Campagna, Arkansas and a sister Catherine Spies, Buffalo, IA. He is preceded in death by his wife Melba and a grandson Keith Tumosa.
