Funeral services for Michael D. Nichols, 69, Colona, IL, will be 10:00am Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Nichols died Friday April 1, 2016, at his home. Mike was born October 11, 1946, in Unionville, MO, the son of Marion and Lola Alvin Nichols. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He married Patricia Jones November 6, 1967, in Rock Island, IL. He retired from John Deere, Moline, after 31 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and watching NASCAR. He was a member of the Silvis Eagles. He was a devoted loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Nichols, Colona; daughters, Michelle (Jason) Nice, Orion, IL, and Amber Nichols, Colona; grandchildren, Chelsy Stone, Alexis Garland, Steven Garland, Charlie Stone, and Coty Nice; great grandson, Carter Yeoman; sisters, Pat, Linda, Liz, and Connie; brother, Lonnie. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ralph and Lee; sister, Fran. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
