Michael D. Polchow, 65, Rock Island, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral services are 10 AM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Michael Polchow Educational Scholarship Fund at Scott Community College. Michael was born on February 26, 1947 in Moline. He married Diane Sowers on November 30, 1969 at Zion Lutheran Church, East Moline. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Polchow retired from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. He enjoyed growing flowers, gardening, and fishing. He was an artist who expressed himself by painting and loved to expand his knowledge through reading. He was an amazing and dedicated father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife Diane, daughter and son-in-law Heather and Doug Anderson, Coal Valley, granddaughters Emma and Maddie, and his brother Robert Polchow, Milan. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Ethel (Trusdale) Polchow, and his son Ryan who died on September 14, 2006.
