Funeral services for Miguel Marquez, 81 of Silvis, are 9 AM Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-8PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4PM. A memorial fund has been established. Mr. Marquez died Friday, October 13, 2006. Through his death he was able to give the Gift of Life with organ donation. Miguel was born September 29, 1925 in Mexico, the son of Benjamin and Refugio Martinez Marquez. He married Socorro Amesquita in 1950 in Savanna, IL. He retired as a sandblaster from Sivyer Steel. He was a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and would attend Mass daily. He found great joy in gardening and loved horses. Survivors include daughters Michele (David) Liedtke, East Moline, Cuca Marquez, Silvis and Maria Marquez, Silvis, a granddaughter Shelby Liedtke, sisters; Ma. DelRefugio Marquez, Mexico, and Elena Moneymaker, Rock Island, brothers; Ignacio Marquez, Manuel Marquez, Salvador Marquez, all of Mexico and Benjamin Marquez, Dixon, IL.
