Funeral services for Michele "Mike" Ferretti, 65, Port Byron, are 10 AM Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in Oak Grove Cemetery, Port Byron. Visitation is 3-7 PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Prayer service will conclude visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Port Byron Fire Department. Mike died Monday, January 29, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. Mike was born June 1, 1941 in Fulton County, IL, the son of Frank and Octavia (Beoletto) Ferretti. He graduated from Spoon River Community College and attended Western Illinois University. He married Mary Ann Tvarkunas on August 1, 1964 at St. Anne Church, East Moline. He retired in 1991 as a Time Study Engineer after 30 years with John Deere Foundry. He and his family moved to Port Byron in 1979. He volunteered for the Fire Department and had served as president of the Fire Association. He served as Trustee of the Port Byron Board and also sat on the Zoning Board. He was elected Mayor in April of 2005. Mr. Ferretti also delivered prescriptions for Porter's Village RX. Mike enjoyed gardening, doing yard work and watching the wildlife. He loved watching baseball and was a fan of the Yankees and the Cubs. Mike always family gatherings at his home, in the Ozarks or any location his travels would take him. Survivors include his wife of 42 years Mary Ann, daughters and sons-in-law Debi and Sean McKay, Hampton, Becki and Carl Woodard, Silvis, and Sarah and Dan Manion, Hampton, son Staff Sgt. Nicholas Ferretti, serving in the Persian Gulf, grandchildren; Ben and Josh McKay, Allison Herron, Carl and Callie Woodard, Darren, Shane, Colin and Norah Manion, his mother Octavia Ferretti, Cuba, IL, a brother Joe Ferretti, Farmington, IL, and his beloved K9 Annie. He is preceded in death by his father who died February 4, 2006 and his wife's parents Peter and Lorine Tvarkunas.
