Graveside services for Mildred B. Jahns, 86, of Plano TX, formerly of Downers Grove, IL, will be 11:00 AM Monday at the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Anyone wishing to attend the graveside service should be at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline by 10:30AM. Mrs. Jahns died Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at her son's home. Memorials may be made to The American Diabetes Association or the Alzheimer's Association. Mildred Hodgen was born March 9, 1921 in Frankfort, IN, the daughter of Ralph and Velma (Flowers) Hodgen. She married Roy Jahns January 18, 1944 in San Francisco, CA. He died November 24, 1982. She had worked for many years at the Downers Grove Post Office, Downers Grove, IL, before she and her husband moved to Florida. Mildred was a friendly outgoing person. She loved talking to people and helping whenever possible. She and her sisters started "The Little Fuzzies" program in Ocala, FL. The Little Fuzzies provided layettes for the indigent newborns in Ocala, FL. She loved to garden, play cards, bowl, and play bingo. Survivors include: daughter, Laura Seidlitz of East Moline, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Diane Jahns of Plano, TX; grandchildren, William and Richard Seidlitz, Elissa, David, and Leah Jahns; great grandchildren, Hunter, Hannah, and Emily.
