Mildred J. Keefer, 87, of Park Vista, East Moline, IL, died Monday, April 27, 2009 at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis, IL. Memorial services are Friday May 15, 2009 at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church for a luncheon at 12:30 PM. Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 followed by a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline or Genesis Hospice. A graveside service will be held at the Green Valley Cemetery, Green Valley, IL on May 18th. Mildred Gregersen was born December 21, 1921 in Bloomington, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Edna (Clark) Gregersen. She was a graduate of Pekin High School and had attended Bradley University, Peoria, IL. She married Loren E. Keefer, March 7, 1942 in Baton Rouge, LA. He died March 28, 2005. She and her husband lived in East Moline until 1970 when they moved to Frankfort, KY until 1989 when they moved to Ocala, FL. In 1999 they returned to East Moline. She had worked as a teacher and church secretary before moving to Frankfort, KY. While in KY she had worked as a Research Representative retiring in 1988 from the KY Dept. of Commerce. She had been a member of Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline and Ocala West United Methodist Church, Ocala, FL. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Dennis Griffin, Moline, Joy and Jeff Freiburg, East Moline, and Jean and Wayne Henning, Frankfort, KY; grandchildren, Jill Zobrist, Andrew Griffin, Kyle and MacKenzie Griffin, Ellen and Bryan Thorndyke, Claire Freiburg, Allyson and Lance McMillin, and Matthew Henning; great grandchildren, Alissa, Abigail, and Aaron Zobrist, Ryver and Henna Griffin, Eric and Irelyn Thorndyke, Caroline and Keefer McMillin.
