Obituary

Mildred Wray, 94, Silvis, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Funeral services are 10 AM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd. Visitation is 4-7 PM Tuesday, March 14, 2017. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Hope Creek activity fund. Mildred Machu was born on January 4, 1923, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Havel) Machu. Millie graduated from East Moline High School in 1941, while still in school, she was employed as a bookkeeper at Bordner's in East Moline. She had also worked at American Machine and Metal prior to her marriage. She married Collins Wray on July 12, 1943 in Glennville, Georgia, where Collins was stationed in the Army. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2001. Mildred was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Survivors include her son, Richard (Bonnie) Wray, East Moline, and daughter, Nancy Wray, Silvis; grandchildren, Brad Wray and Leanne Vermeulen; and great grandchildren, Ryan, Colin, and Emily. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Blanche Studeny, Joe Machu, Jim Machu and Frank Machu, and grandson, Darin Wray. The family would like to thank the staff at Hope Creek for the care and compassion shown to Millie during her stay.
