Funeral services for Myrtle Elinor Stang, 93, of Silvis, IL, will be 11:00AM Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to services at the funeral home. Mrs. Stang died Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL. Memorials my be made to First Baptist Church, Silvis, IL. Myrtle Kommer was born March 25, 1919 in Clover Township, Henry County, Woodhull, IL, the daughter of Elmer and Otillia "Tillie" Hulstrom Kommer. She graduated from Cambridge Schools. She married Theodore Stang Saturday, August 21, 1937 in Des Moines, IA, by the Rev. Vern Clevelvan of the Christian Church, in the ministers home. Mr. Stang died July 11, 1985. She lived in Moline, East Moline, and Silvis since 1936. She had worked for Sears & Roebuck for 20 years, retiring in 1974. Survivors include her daughter, Janet (Gary) Gustafson, Orion, IL; son, Ted (Mimi) Stang, Salem, OR; 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; sister Dorothy Smith, Seattle, WA.
