Funeral services for Nancy Lee Yuknis, 71, East Moline, are 10 AM Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment is in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Visitation is 4-7 PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4 PM. Nancy died Sunday, March 20, 2005 at the home of her daughter Mary in Rapids City, IL. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Church. She was born February 24, 1934 in Silvis, IL the daughter of Ambrose and Margaret Markeski. She married Lawrence Yuknis in 1951 at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline by Monsignor William J. Cleary. She had been a member at St. Anne since 1950. Nancy had worked at Frank's Pizzeria, the Quad City Downs, and Millard Maintenance for 17 years, retiring in 1995. She had more recently worked part time at Hauberg Civic Center, Rock Island and Oreck Vacuums in Moline. She was past President and Secretary of the Rock Island Farm Bureau-Happy Hollow Unit in East Moline. Served as past President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Business Manager of Local 171 Building Services Employees Union. Education had always been very important to her, so when her life finally started to slow down she received her GED in 1996. She was a reading tutor at Black Hawk Outreach. She was an avid baker and reader. Her motto was "there's always room for one more at the dinner table". Nancy's hospitality and food will be missed by all "enjoy". Survivors (and spouses) include her husband of 54 years, Larry, East Moline, daughters Mary Weed (Michael) Stock, Rapids City, Margaret Dilley, Davenport, sons Tony (Connie) Yuknis, Silvis, Mark (Linda) Yuknis, East Moline and Matthew Yuknis, Colona. Eight grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Jim Morrow, Kissimmee, FL, and her 2 dogs, April and Megan. She was preceded in death by a son Matthew M, who died at birth, her sister Barbara Fuller, and her parents. A special thank-you to Dr. Garneau and his staff, especially Lisa and Tammy, and to her special Hospice caregivers, Sarah, Brenda and Kathy.
