Nannette Smith , beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, with her husband by her side. Born on December 23,1956, Nan brought laughter, warmth, and joy to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 30th, at Christ the King Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Private interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 29th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, Iowa City, IA.

Nan had a true gift for making life beautiful. She loved to cook for her family, filling every gathering with delicious food and love. Her home was always ready for the next holiday—decorated from top to bottom—because every season to Nan was a reason to celebrate and make new memories. Her sense of humor was unmatched; she could light up any room with her quick wit and contagious laugh. Proudly competitive, Nan loved playing games of all kinds and treasured every moment spent surrounded by her family.

She married George S Smith III on January 26, 1980. Together they shared many adventures, especially camping and boating during their early years of marriage.

Nan was a retired Nurse from Trinity Hospital, where she dedicated many years to caring for her patients with compassion and kindness. She loved her work and the friendships she built with her coworkers.

Nan is survived by her husband, George, of Port Byron; children, Lyndsay Smith of Moline; Christopher Smith (Amanda) of Hillsdale; Nicholas Smith (Jenn) of Davenport; and her six beloved grand boys Caden, Hunter, Elliot, Gavin, Nolan, and Tucker who were the absolute lights of her life. She is also survived by her siblings, Richard (Judy) Allison of East Moline; Judy (Jeff) Hanne of Coal Valley; Laurie (Chris) Caldwell of Moline; and Teresa Allison of East Moline, as well as many nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Nan was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ora and Josephine Allison and her sister-in-law Kathleen Miller.

Nan will be remembered for her kindness, humor, creativity, and unwavering love for her family. Her spirit will live on in the laughter around the dinner table, the joy of a family game night, and the beauty of every holiday she inspired.
