Funeral Services for Newton H. Sainer, 89, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:00AM Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona, IL. Entombment will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-6:00PM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a liturgy service will be held at 5:45PM. Mr. Sainer died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Fund or to St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Newton was born December 8, 1918 in Freemont, IA, the son of Henry and Fannie (Carter) Sainer. He married Lillian E. Walz May 11, 1942 at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. She died October 22, 2006. He owned and operated Newt's Garage, Silvis for 30 years, retiring in 1978. Newt was very mechanically inclined, always inventing and building things. He enjoyed going on the Casino Boats and fishing. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemary and Gary Reynolds of Silvis, IL, Dorothy and Gilbert Kuehl of Silvis, IL; son and daughter-in-law, William and Donna Sainer of Rapids City, IL; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 3 half sisters, 1 half brother.
