Obituary

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Nicholas W. Harris, aged 41, of East Moline, who left us on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Visitation is from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the funeral home. The family will also be having a celebration of life gathering at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Nick was born on June 30, 1985, in Moline to Shawn Harris and Jill Pickett. He proudly graduated from Moline High School in the class of 2003. A talented salesman, Nick had a remarkable ability to connect with people and could sell anything to anyone. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing, gambling, and sharing a cold beer with his friends and family. An avid Chicago Bears fan, he cherished the thrill of watching Brett Favre during his prime. Nick’s spirit shined brightest during gatherings where he delighted in spending time with his loved ones and playing with the little ones.

He is survived by his loving fiancé, Janette Alexander; his devoted mother, Jill (Lonnie) Hostens; father, Shawn (Connie) Harris; and his cherished daughter, Mackenzie Alexander;his siblings: Allisyn (James) DeKezel, Zachary Harris, Kayla Harris, Marissa Hostens, Eric Hostens, Ian Hostens, and Shelcie Crimmins, his beloved nieces and nephews: Jenna, Lydia, Greysen, Addisyn, Lennon, Ollie, Hank, Archer, Jarrell, and Lyam. He was preceded in death by his brother, Hunter Hostens; maternal grandfather, George Pickett; paternal grandparents, Delores and Kenneth Harris; grandparents, Karen Hostens, Robert Frederickson, and Ken “Twister” Helmers; uncle, Jeffrey Harris; and cousin, Tony Lopez.
