Ninfa Castel, 62 of Redondo Beach, CA since 1989, former resident of Rock Island, IL, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Kaiser Foundational Hospital Panorama City, CA.

Funeral services will be 11 am Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Ninfa will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline, IL, next to her mother, Carmen Hernandez. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30am Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, Ltd., East Moline.

Ninfa was born the daughter of Jesus and Carmen (Muñiz) Hernandez on April 17, 1960 in Moline, IL. She married Jeffrey Jay Castel on July 21, 1979 in Silvis, IL.

Ninfa was a kind, sweet and generous woman. She retired from UCLA, Los Angeles, CA, after 30 years and 7 months as an administrative specialist. She loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed crafting, her court TV shows, and keeping up with family and friends on Facebook. But most of all she loved her son, Jeffrey Jay Castel Jr. of Los Angeles, CA.

Those left to treasure her memory are her husband, Jeffrey Jay Castel Sr. of Redondo Beach, CA; son, Jeffrey Jay Castel Jr.; her brother, Efren Hernandez and his wife, Ana of Leesburg, FL; best childhood friend, Lorena Bush and her husband, Mike of Bettendorf, IA; sister-in-law Laura Hernandez of Bettendorf, IA; many godchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; many great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carmen (Muñiz) and father, Jesus Hernandez.
