Norma Lou (Waite) Jones Steafken , 84, of Moline, IL, died Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Celebrate of Moline.

A Memorial visitation will be 5:00pm – 7:00pm Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Norma's family invites those attending to wear casual attire and perhaps something Blue, her favorite color. Memorials may be made to the March of Dimes.

Norma Lou Waite was born March 21, 1940, in Plano, Iowa, the only daughter of James Ora Waite, Sr. and Elva Marietta (Ross) Waite. She married Ralph David Jones on March 21, 1957. They were divorced in April of 1968. She later married John F. Steafken on November 2, 1968. He preceded Norma in death on June 28, 1986, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Norma was a housekeeper in earlier years at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. She later became a Certified Nurses Aide for the Oak Glen Home and UnityPoint, Trinity.

Her family and faith were very important to her. Some of her favorite times were those spent with her daughter and granddaughters. She will be fondly remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Norma enjoyed researching genealogy, crocheting, knitting, needlework and word search puzzles.

Surviving are her daughter, Sue-Ann E. Waite-Jones; granddaughters, Allison Steafken and Kourtnee Sims, all of Silvis, IL; sister-in-law, Barbara J. St. Clair, Moline; and two nieces, Betty Jo Sterling and Lori Ann Parchert, and their families.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, James and Elva; brothers (and sisters-in-law), James O. (Sue) Waite, Jr., Ira Joe (Betty) Waite and Dennis R. Waite; two nieces, Amy Lynn Hawley and Christy Jo Cravens; and one nephew, Billy Lee Waite.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Celebrate of Moline and Heartland Hospice that helped care for our mom and Grandma.
