Graveside services for Norman O. Boenitz, 66, of Silvis, IL, will be 9:00 AM Friday at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Mr. Boenitz died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at his home. Memorials may be made to the family. Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL is handling arrangements. Norm was born January 17, 1943 in Moline, IL, the son of Joseph and Louise (Sommer) Boenitz. He married Joan (Tumlin) Tarver May 6, 1988 in Rock Island. He retired from the Case-IH Plant in 2000. He later worked as a crossing guard for the East Moline School District #37, retiring in 2009 He enjoyed his pets, gardening, and playing bingo. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include: his wife, Joan Boenitz of Silvis; children (spouse) Lisa Boenitz of Osceola, IA, Wayne Boenitz of Cordova, IL, Troy (Cheryl) Boenitz of Buffalo, IA, William (Nicole) Boenitz of Colona, IL; stepchildren(spouse), Doug (Bonnie) Tarver of Muskogee, OK, Sharon Brown-Evans (Sean Evans) of Silvis; 13 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; brothers(spouse), Maurice (Marianne) Boenitz of North Carolina, Joseph (Velda) Boenitz of Noblesville, IN; sister-in-law, Jean Boenitz of Pace, FL; several nieces and nephews.
