Norman E. Landry, 93, formerly of Ridgewood Towers, East Moline, joined his Savior Jesus Christ and his wife of 64 years on September 23, 2009. Funeral services are 10 AM Monday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post 246 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 2-5 PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 2PM. Memorials may be made to Christ the King Church. Norman was born August 31, 1916 in Moline, the son of Joseph and Adina (Carlson) Landry. He served in the Army during WWII, serving on the Tank Destroyer Battalion. He married Evelyn R. Campbell on November 7, 1943 in Puyallup, Washington. She died June 9, 2008. Norman retired in 1978 from John Deere Plow Planter, after 39 years. Mr. Landry was a member of the Moline American Legion Post 246 since 1954, the VFW 2153 since 1958, a life member of the Turner Society since 1934 and a member of AARP since 1972. He was a member of Indian Trails and camped with coast-coast. He also enjoyed reading, playing cards, dancing, music and his family. Survivors include his children and spouses; Estella and David Novak, Buffalo, IA, Alicia "Judy" Damara and Maggie Rein Minneapolis, MN, Irving and Joann Hill Landry, Bettendorf, Janet and Donald Broadway, Oklahoma City, OK, and Joseph and Sherry Landry, Cary, NC, fifteen grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and a cousin Mildred Carlson, Kenosha, WI. He is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, 2 grandsons and a great grandson.
