Ola Mae Peel, 86, Silvis, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her family. A memorial gathering will be held from 3:30 until 5 PM Sunday at Faith Walk World Outreach Center in Silvis. A brief service will be held at the conclusion. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Faith Walk World Outreach Center or First Baptist Church, East Moline.
Ola Overstreet was born on July 22, 1934 in Bedford, VA, the daughter of Cecil and Hattie Overstreet. She married Elmer E. Peel on August 8, 1953 in Bridgeton, NJ. Ola worked in her early years, but felt her place was being a devoted wife and mother to her family. She was an active long-time member of First Baptist Church, East Moline, where she taught Sunday School. Over the years, she bowled in leagues and was a member of the Women of the Moose.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Elmer, children, Sheryl (Joe) Hasselman, Sparta, TN, Sandy (Jim) Long, Silvis,, Rose (Kevin) Hemstreet, Spring Hill, FL, Elmer (Fran) Peel Jr., Silvis and Linda Peel, Silvis, seventeen grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Lucille Mullica and 2 brothers in childhood.
