Funeral services for Orion G. Sletten, 88, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:30 AM Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL and one hour prior to services at the church. Mr. Sletten died Saturday, September 3, 2005 at Aspenwood Health Care Center, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to The Sletten Family Charitable Trust (Kids Around The World). Mr. Sletten was born September 28, 1916 in Ontario, WI, the son of Clarence and Paula "Polly" (Larsen) Sletten. He married Betty Jean Sullivan, July 2, 1941 in Waukon, IA. He had worked as a mechanic for Reynolds Ford, East Moline and So-Cal Tractor Company, Van Nuys, CA, retiring in 1979 after 40 years of service. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, East Moline, IL, where he held offices as an Elder, Financial Secretary and member of the Evangelism Committee. He had been a volunteer for the Colona Fire Department and a member of the Colona Lions Club. Survivors include: his wife of 64 years, Betty Sletten of East Moline, IL; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Mark Haupt of Paso Robles, CA; son, Jerry D. Sletten of Rockford, IL, Susan Sletten of Rockton, IL; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Clay Craven of Granada Hills, CA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Laurence and Hazel Sletten of Colona, IL, Marion and Charlotte Sletten of Plainfield, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and a brother.
